RAGWORT

Picture
Ragwort [senecio jacobaea] is a common weed found in paddocks, fields, derelict landfill sites and by the roadside.

Due to the nature of ragwort (each flower has approximately 10,000 seeds each) we would recommend spraying the weed at the rosette stage in the Spring. This is before it has a chance to germinate and seed. Some land owners find the most productive way to stay on top of ragwort is by pulling the plant from the ground, this isn't recommended as it is not only time consuming, but it also spreads multiple seeds and increases the infestation.

Horses and cattle are attracted to ragwort when the plant is dormant, which can be very dangerous as it is poisonous to them and can even cause death.

Weed Management have many years of experience under their belts, having dealt with ragwort control in all types of environments. This has helped us to develop great product knowledge and application programmes over the years. We advise that ragwort be treated annually, again monitoring the effect of each treatment carefully as some areas (depending on the density of growth) may require multiple applications.
